Jessne´s solution formula.
All the peels in this family originate from Jessne´s solution formula. They are formulated in a hydroalcoholic base and a mixture of hydroxy acids (lactic, citric, and salicylic acids).
The pH of all the peels in this line of products varies between 2.0 and 2.5.
The application of the Melaspeel line of products is done by coats.
Apply the peel using a gauze soaked in the solution, starting from the least sensitive areas of the face and moving toward the most sensitive ones. After the first coat is applied, wait approximately 3 minutes, allowing the solution to dry and penetrate. Next, apply each coat consecutively, always monitoring the skin between each application to assess the degree of erythema, and the presence or absence of a white mask. Once the last coat has been applied, seal the treated area with a slightly acidic pH cream (Acglicolic Classic Cream Gel Forte or Retises CT Yellow Peel).
Applying more pressure with the gauze or using more solution increases the peel penetration. In dark-skinned patients, no more than 2 coats of solution with 4n-butylresorcinol should be applied, due to risk of inflammation. Fitzpatrick skin types I and II can tolerate up to 5-6 coats of the solution. In that case, different solutions may be combined, applying the weakest solution over the whole face and the strongest solution focally, on the lesions.
